Jola Gore-Booth was invited to speak at this Pharmaceutical Industry Meeting on "How to collaborate effectively with Patient Groups". Following on from a very instructive presentation by Professor Karol Sikora on the "Patchwork of Provision of Cancer Care across a Continent" Jola Gore-Booth demonstrated amongst others how The Not for Profit Sector and Industry have to recognise and respect that we share common objectives and that it is to the advantage of everyone to work together in partnership. She stressed the need for transparency and openness and introduced the Code of Practice on Relationships between the Pharmaceutical Industry and Patient Organisations which has been recently developed by EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations) This Code of Practice was produced with consultation amongst Patient Organisations and will be effective for members of EFPIA from 1st July 2008. She also stressed that Patient Organisation have their own Policies on how they work with the Pharmaceutical Industry. europacolon is one of the Patient Organisations that sits on EFPIA's Patient Organisation Think Tank.
