Jacky's Story

"My name is Jacky, I live in France and I help europacolon with its administrative work. On the 1st July 2007 I took part in the British 10K London Race. This was only the second time that I have ever run 10K (the first time being in October 2007) which at the age of 42 is an achievement for me.

I decided to run this year for personal reasons. When I told my family and friends that I was going to run to raise money for europacolon an organization dedicated to colorectal cancer, some of them said that they would join me.

My reasons for taking part were that at the age of 35 my mother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Fortunately, she is fully recovered as the disease was diagnosed in its very early stages. Also, in 2005, my husband Ray died from a very aggressive form of brain cancer, leaving me with 2 children aged 6 and 8.

I decided to get involved with europacolon because I wanted to do something to help (in any little way that I could) in the fight against the disease."

europacolon need more people like Jacky to raise vital funds to enable the organisation to continue it's work across Europe.
